Two UNRWA consultancy vacancies in Amman

Offer by: UNRWA.
Position: Gender Officer.
Requirements: Advanced university degree in a development related area (economics, public policy, development management, international relations, etc.); Three years’ experience in project management preferably in the areas of gender equality and or gender based violence; Skills and advanced knowledge in project management and related tools for realization of effective and efficient project management practice; Knowledge of participatory approaches. Understanding of gender relations in the Middle Eastern setting.
Languages: Perfect spoken and written Arabic and English.
Where: Amman, Jordan.
When: 11 months. Extension will depend upon availability of funds.
Pay: Remuneration for this consultancy will be based on the current UNRWA salary scale and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Position: Editor (Oversight).
Requirements: University degree, preferably in languages, journalism, international relations or social and economic development issues. At least three years of experience in writing or editing documents/publications related to social and economic development; Must be able to express ideas clearly, logically and persuasively; Must demonstrate good judgment and a strong sense of ethics; Tact and the ability to guide and encourage others in their work; Desirable previous work in auditing or evaluation is a major advantage; Desirable substantial knowledge of the United Nations system in general is desirable; knowledge of the mission of UNRWA is an advantage.
Languages: Native-speaking ability in English; Excellent drafting skills in English are essential; Experience and/or training in technical writing. Knowledge of Arabic is helpful.
Where: Amman, Jordan.
When: The duration of the consultancy will be for twelve months on a retainer basis (with possibility of extension).
Pay: Applicants should indicate expected fees and basis thereof.
